Tallow vs Plant Oils: Which One Actually Resembles Human Skin?
Plant oils are all over modern skincare, but they are not always ideal for the face. Why? Because many plant oils contain fatty acids that are beneficial in theory but unstable in practice. They oxidize easily, sit on the surface of the skin, or evaporate before delivering lasting moisture. This often leads to short-term softness followed by dryness. Plant oils can however be used effectively to target specific needs when paired with tallow.
Tallow on the skin behaves differently. Its lipid structure is remarkably similar to human skin, which allows it to integrate instead of compete. Rather than forming a slick layer, tallow absorbs gradually and reinforces the skin barrier from within. This is why it feels nourishing instead of greasy when properly formulated.
The real magic happens when tallow is combined with targeted plant oils. A prime example is Garden Club's Pomegranate Renewing Cream that marries the absorption of tallow with the targeting of plant oils. Sea Buckthorn, Frankincense, Raspberry Oil and Carrot Seed Oil all blend effortlessly with tallow to effectively target fine lines and wrinkles.
